Harry Patch

Another week, another world war one veteran finally falls and again we can find no other person who would merit our Hero of the Week award. Harry Patch - what a man. Born when Victoria was still on the throne (and only a handful can now claim that) patch served with great distinction through the horror of the Western Front. He died the oldest man in Europe and one of only 4 left from the Great War. He also outlived both his children and all 3 of his wives ( the last one picked up at his nursing home when well in to his 100's ). A man who lived his life modestly but with true conviction, Britain has one fine resident less.
