London - 1322 places to stay

A vast sprawling metropolis, a collection of villages heavy with identity, an over priced tourist trap - However you see London the fact is that it remains one of the most desirable cities on the planet...just ask anyone trying to buy a house here. The streets have never of course been painted in gold but the number of new buildings springing up is testimony to Londons present wealth and prosperity.

Its a cliché but there really is something for everyone in the city. Its restaurants , nightlife, attractions are both numerous and breathtaking. Every world culture has a base here and it shows in the variety of things to do. Parts of the capital slightly off the usual tourist trail that are well worth a visit include Hampstead , Dulwich , Chiswick , Notting Hill and Richmond and anywhere that the river meanders through normally offers nice views and places to stop.

The main 'night' spots of London are Shoreditch , Camden , Chelsea , Brixton and of course the entire West End that stretches from Hyde Park in the west to Holborn in the east (about a 30 minute walk) and all tastes are catered for. That's not to say that you wont find after hours things to do in almost every single part of London - every area served by restaurants and pubs and every taste catered for. Indeed it is easy to spot cosmopolitan London through the varied food on offer.

Its parks are in many ways its highlight. Some like Kensington Gardens are grand, others out of the centre like Crystal Palace, Battersea and Brockwell are practical hives of activity and some just charming - Chiswick and Holland Parks spring to mind. Londons greatest lungs are Hampstead Heath and Richmond Park which are at opposite ends of the city and are surprisingly large and Green. You can lose yourself for a day in either of them.

Whilst safe London is one of the major cities of the world and as such visitors should always be careful. Our town links on the right hand side will tell you more about each 'town' of the Capital
