The River Frome is a river found in the county of Somerset in the south west of England. Rising near Witham Friary in Somerset, the River Frome takes a northerly heading and flows through the town of
Frome . The town is obviously named after the river and the name ‘Frome’ derives from the ancient British word ‘ffraw’ as in fair, fine or brisk when used to describe the flow of a river. After passing through Frome the river flows on through Somerset to join the
River Avon at Freshford, south of
