Rather interesting Hastings facts
Did you know that the Battle of Hastings wasnít actually fought in Hastings but on Senlac Hill some six miles away? Harold chose his ground well, forcing the Normans to attack uphill; but eventually the Saxons gave in to the temptation to chase a supposedly fleeing enemy, abandoned their advantage and were routed. The ruthlessness that characterized William ís reign began at once: Haroldís body was denied a Christian burial, dumped into a makeshift seashore grave.
