Fulbourn is a picturesque village in the county of Cambridgeshire, and is home to just under five thousand people. The village reaches far back into the history books and first saw the Anglo Saxons settle here. Farming has played its part across the years and continues today due to the rich, dark, fertile Fenland surrounding the village. It was once an important Coaching stop on the route to Newcastle, this could explain why Fulbourn had many Inns during the early twentieth century, and although there are no longer many, there are 3 remaining today, offering a warm welcome, coffee or something a little stronger, one of which dates back centuries. A gentle stroll along the lanes will discover attractive timber framed houses, and thatched cottages some of which date back centuries, and an ancient church that's dedicated to St Vigor the oldest part of which, the Tower was built in the 13th Century. Walkers are tempted to the village as it's close to the ancient Roman Road the Icknield Way, and pleasant Fenland. The High Street is short but has a good selection of shops, although as it is only four miles or so from the centre of Cambridge it's perfectly placed.
