A pretty coastal village on the North Cornish Coast, it was once the centre of religious activity before the Norman Conquest. The Norman church still survives and has impressive wood carvings and stained glass windows. At the centre of the village is ’The Round Garden’ owned by the National Trust, was once the sight where one of seven Celtic churches stood, today an orchard and a pleasing place to dwell. When thirst or hunger strikes, why not try the Tea garden for a ‘cream tea’, or one of the two pubs for a bite or something stronger. The village boasts it’s own craft shop, and Picture Gallery that has many fine watercolours of local views and wildlife. Or see for yourself at West Pentire Headland, a site of special scientific interest with many wild flowers and rare plants. To enjoy the great outdoors is not difficult here whether you chose one of the many walks through beautiful countryside or inspiring coastal paths, or maybe Crantock Beach, with wide sandy beach to an impressive range of sand dunes and steep cliffs. For the curious there are always the rock pools to investigate or the sandy bottomed caves to explore.
