The Captain Howey Hotel is Situated between the Historic Cinque Port Town of New Romney and the sea, opposite the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway station of New Romney. Built in the 19th Century at the New Romney terminus of the railway branch line from Ashford, it was then named The Station Hotel, serving the many weekend visitors to the Marsh and the prestigious Littlestone Golf Club. Littlestone was seen as a potential large resort in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries and was very popular with visitors from London and carriages would have been housed in the stables. The Captain Howey Hotel has very recently gone through a complete interior re-furbishment, creating a fresh and friendly environment. The bar area has a large screen television showing Sky television for those who can’t miss their football while they are away from home. On Friday we have a local DJ playing in the bar area, and we often have live bands on Saturday evenings. If this is not your thing please be assured that your room will not be affected by either of these events. There is a lower restaurant area where breakfast is served, and a downstairs games room. Our sister public house, The Plough Inn, a 16th century coaching inn is within walking distance. It is known throughout Kent for serving some of the best food in the district, especially the carvery which is available on Sunday lunchtime and Wednesday evening. Booking for both of these times is advisable as they both get very busy; please enquire when you arrange your stay. The Captain Howey Hotel is also a great place for any party or function you may be organising. Weddings, birthdays, anniversarys, etc, whatever you may wish to celebrate, we can make it a time to remember. Club and business meetings can also be catered for. For the golfers amongst our visitors, the hotel is within walking distance of the Littlestone and the Romney Warren golf courses. It is within walking distance from the town centre.
