The Helen Laxton School of Dance has been running in Yeovil and the surrounding villages for over 20 years. The school teaches children from 15 months to adults, beginners to professionals. Students are regularly entered for Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Examinations and Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Modern Theatre Examinations, the students always gain outstanding results with many being awarded Distinctions.

In recent years the school has had many pupils successfully auditioning for top Ballet and Musical Theatre Schools in the UK including The Royal Academy of Dance, The Royal Ballet School, Central Ballet School, London Studio Centre, Laine Theatre Arts, The Urdang Academy, Millenium School, Arts Educational School, Stella Mann and The Hammond School. Many pupils have also continued their dance training at universities and Colleges. Many ex pupils are now working professionally in Ballet Companies, in The West End, in theatres,in film and media, whilst others are teaching and working in dance related careers all over the world.

Each year the school puts on a major dance production and each year children from the school are selected to appear in the professional pantomime which takes place at The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil.
