Rowan House is situated in a leafy residential area, a mile and a half south of the city centre. We are one street off the main road so we have easy access to an excellent bus service, yet our quiet location guarantees a good night's sleep. The house was built in 1880 and still retains many original features, but the bedrooms are modern, bright and comfortable.

Apart from being centrally heated, all rooms have back-up heating (which you control yourself), complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits and colour television. We have a variety of accommodation to suit all requirements and all price budgets. We are also one of the few guest houses in the city to have 3 single rooms. We serve a large Scottish breakfast each morning including porridge and freshly baked scones. Special dietary requirements are also catered for, by arrangement.

Rowan House is well located for all tourist attractions including the Castle, Holyrood Palace and the Royal Mile. All University of Edinburgh departments are within walking distance, as is the Royal College of Surgeons and the Edinburgh Veterinary College. The Commonwealth Swimming Pool is only a ten minutes' walk and this lies next to the Queen's Park, which has Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano, at its heart.
