The Clarkes welcome you to Holmhead, a former farmhouse which stands uniquely on the foundations of Hadrian's wall and was built in 1800 from stones taken from this World Heritage Monument to provide a farmhouse. It is near the "Centre of Britain" at the southwest corner of the Northumberland National Park. It is half way between Edinburgh and York .and within an easy drive of the lake district, the heritage coast and the Scottish borders.

Hadrian's Wall is a World Heritage Site it crosses from coast to coast of Northern England for 73 Miles. Pauline is a Hadrian's Wall Tour Guide with DIP in Local History & Archaeology. You can visit long stretches of remaining wall; archaeological excavations of wall and of 8 of the remaining forts along the route, there are also 11 museums. Most are open all year. The nearest are Vindolanda and Housesteads Roman Fort Excavations and Museums.
