Originally built as a farmstead in 1747, this four-star Inn and Restaurant features a cosy bar with open fire, sunny conservatory and walled beer-garden, excellent bar meals and a la carte menus (including vegetarian) using fresh, local produce, good choice of wines and 4 cask ales.

Taken over in 2005 by Richard and Dee Slade, Battlesteads has quickly gained a reputation for its character and warm welcome as a friendly, family run hotel.

Battlesteads has 17 en-suite rooms with colour television, freeview, ironing boards and hairdryer, all carefully modernised to provide comfortable accommodation. Four ground floor rooms have facilities for the disabled. Broadband access is available in all rooms.

Our chefs source the best of local ingredients to ensure freshness and flavour – including top quality Northumbrian lamb and prime beef. Fish and seafood is sourced from North Shields Fish Quay.

A range of traditional roast dinners featuring locally reared beef, lamb and pork areavailable at the popular Sunday Carvery, all at set prices.
