Rhodes 24 is Gary Rhodes' new restaurant on the 24th floor of Tower 42, the tallest building in the City of London, so we're already off to an impressive start. While waiting for your food to arrive feast your eyes on the magnificent panoramic view, which includes the Gherkin in all its great gherkiness. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure you don't have to miss a thing. And so the food; Gary has stuck to what he does best - British faves from braised oxtail cottage pie, fresh haddock with steamed potato, and cockle and leek casserole to jam roly poly with rich, thick custard and jam sauce. Gives the men (and women) in suits an excuse to feed their inner-public school-kid doesn't it? The feel is a bit more sophisticated boardroom than casual restaurant, so you're probably best off leaving the jeans at home.
