This is a lovely Country Park set around the ruins of a 12th century Abbey. It is just a few miles from Sherwood Forest and it's open all year round. No admission charge and no car park charge midweek. There's plenty to do - a contemporary craft centre, shops, cafe and restaurant, quiet lakeside and woodland walks, modern sculpture and gardens to explore. They're building a new children's garden and "play Village" for next year - should be worth a visit. Older visitors will probably appreciate the free electric mobility scooters for loan and plenty of level paths. A nice day out iin North Nottinghamshire.
