Good Points: Very professional reception staff, clean room and excellent facilities. Bad Points: It was made clear that my colleague and I had to be leaving the hotel at 7.20am, we were informed that breakfast would be ready at 7am. Our car was packed and we were sat down ready for breakfast at 7am. Although this was the start time, I can only describe the breakfast as organised chaos. The staff seemed to be late and were running around, I was looking forward to a cooked breakfast. The only items that were ready were bacon and mushrooms, I politely asked for an egg and that was ignored. I had to ask for the toaster and plug it in myself, by the time we had to leave the eggs still weren't ready and they were still bringing food out. Needless to say both my colleague and I went hungry although we could have had some cereal I suppose. Considering my colleague had travelled from Greece and it was his first time in the UK, I wanted him to experience something a little more up-market. I left sorely disappointed apart from the positive comments above.

Have tried on numberous occasions to book rooms at this hotel, unfortunately they never answer their phone nor do they return your calls when you leave a message on the answerphone machine - a shame to sully a reputation with something so simple as to man the phones!

Hotel was poor. We were in the stable block (reminded me of school trips). It took a very windy walk around many corridors to get to our room. There were clumps of spider eggs in the corridor ceiling and there was a very noisey flight of stairs going up the side of our room. Room was small and we could not open the curtains as there was a car park directly outside. Bed was small. No particular desire to stay again.

This hotel was absolutely fabulous for the wedding we attended. Nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel, wedding ceremony room (Great Hall) was stunningly laid out, and the food was excellent! Couldn't fault it. We will certainly be going there again for whatever celebration event I can think of next! Bedrooms are a little on the small side, but we were given an upgrade to a larger room ~ again without any trouble at all. Most obliging. Many thanks for an excellent event which I am sure the Bride & Groom and their respective parents were more than happy with.

whilst i realise that when spending time at aconference or a working meeting, not much time is spent in the bedroom, it would ahve been helpful to have a mirror in the room so that I could pay full attention to doing my hair. electrical appliances cannot be used in the bathroom. I was also in a room that did not have hanging space for a dress, not all women wear trousers. On another note, the meal and attention we received in the small dining room was excellent. I do not like sharing with other large groups when we are only a party of 4-5 jane mackay staying again 12 September 2006

Good Points: Good Location with attractive gardens. The room was a reasonable size. Bad Points: The lack of any information pack in the room giving details of the hotels services, menus and telephone numbers. General Review: The rooms are in accomodation blocks which are spread out in the grounds. The towels were old and not soft. It took a great deal of time running the water before it got warm.

Good Points: The setting was beautiful Bad Points: Room was too small, no wardroobe, 1 bedside cabinet, no blind in the bathroom General Review: I have returned the questionaire left in the room but not heard anything from it. Room 50 was to small and had no blind in the bathroom resulting in no privacy at night when the light was on. The average wait to be served at the bar was 5-10 minutes. Sat & Sun buffet breakfast was lovely but Monday we were moved into a small room and shown to a table previously used but not re-set. We had to ask for cutlery, cups, fresh butter etc. My husband ordered poach eggs which had to be returned as they were swimming in water. On checking out the male receptionist announced to all in reception how much we owed and did not present us with an itemised bill to check beforehand. Every hotel we have ever stayed on check out present you with an itemised bill for checking and ask if you have enjoyed your stay. Not here all they wanted was payment and announced to everybody how much we owed. I should have said something to the receptionist at the time but I was too embarrassed. The first sight we got of our bill was after we had paid. Very poor and unacceptable.
