Good Points: Polite and attentive staff. Room was good size and bed comfortable. Cooked breakfast was good....poached egg was perfect! Checking in and out was straight forward.
Bad Points: Ensuite toilet seat was loose. Paintwork was flaking off the walls and timber boxing around toilet (Didn't look pleasant). One curtain was hanging off the rail. Window catch broken. Bottom sheet on bed didn't cover the mattress which was exposed near the headboard. The bed base creaked terribly. My glass at breakfast had lipstick on it from a previous guest. Salt pot was caked in dried on food. Breakfast was from 7am-9am, but the fruit salad didn't appear until 7.25am just as we were finishing.
General review: I had expected better to be honest. I didn't expect any frills and basic facilities, but they should be to a good standard of upkeep and cleanliness. If breakfast starts at 7am, everything should be there for 7am.

Good Points: Helpful staff team. Superb, excellent food - absolutely excellent. Great bar area.
Bad Points: At breakfast I asked for my news paper as I stayed in the Mews block - it never came although I picked it up when we checked out. Check out was slow as reception only had one person and she was busy on the phone. The window in th room was broken and wide open and hanging on only by one hinge! The room was fabulous in its day no doubt but could do with a little attention. And please throw away cracked crockery... cipped or cracked glaze on cups allows bacteria to breed. Furniture in breakfast room (function room) desperately in need of attention - torn and worn out.
General review: A pleasant stay but the best part is the food. Well done the kitchen team and the bar staff - excellent. Reception was friendly but under manned. Rooms wonderfully spacious and well equipped but lacking some maintenance and attention to detail. Shops only 30 mins walk away from hotel so we got a bottle of wine and enjoyed it downstairs in our room watching the late night TV before heading up to bed (fantastic to have two floors!). Despite some of my comments above, yes I would stay here again. It's the staff and the food, plus that 2 floor room which made it a great place to stay and worthy of the 3 stars it holds (they just need to watch that they don't lose a star through lack of maintenance or short staffing)
