Born 1912. Died 1995 - Scottish short story writer and novelist.

Bookseller’s assistant and labourer before becoming a publisher’s reader and literary editor of Tribune. First novel was Time Will Knit (1938). Later novels included Jezebel’s Dust (1951) and Palace of Green Days (1979). Published 11 collections of short stories and edited nine anthologies of short stories.
