Lace pattern designer in Glasgow. Interested in poetry sending pieces to Glasgow Citizen. Life Drama (1851) was successful but satirized by William Aytoun. Other poems included City Poems (1857) and Edwin of Deira (1861). Also wrote essays, novels and prose.
