Born 1904. Died 1962 - English novelist.


His first novel Craven House was published in 1926. Followed by Rope (1929) which was filmed by Alfred Hitchcock and Gaslight (1938), filmed by George Cukor and Thorold Dickinson. Others works included Hangover Square (1941) and the Gorse triology (1951-55). Was badly disfigured when he was run over by a car in the late 1920s. Died in 1962 of cirrhosis of the liver and kidney failure.
