The passenger was Gordon Selfridge (of Selfridges Stores fame), who for practical reasons it seems needed to get to Dublin urgently – though in his pomp he did everything in style. His chartered de Havilland DH9 took a mere three and a quarter hours to make the trip, landing at RAF Baldonnel.
