West Wemyss is a beautiful village on the shores of the Firth of Forth in Scotland, and is home to under two hundred and fifty people. It has a fascinating history which reaches far back in time; it grew around the Castle which was built in the 15th Century high on a cliff top, which once saw Mary Queen of Scots visit here when she met her husband. There is a small harbour where the coal from nearby mines was shipped in centuries past, a welcoming pub and hotel, and a pleasing choice of places to stay. A stroll along the Main Street will discover the impressive Tolbooth Tower which links with the 18th Century, visitors today can still see the attractive clock and archway which has stood the test of time; there are rows of white washed Miners, and Salter's cottages whose red pantile roofs are a link with the past, and a range of impressive buildings from across the years. Walkers can step out on the Fife Coastal Path which journeys through here, or venture into the dramatic surrounding countryside. Close by there are an abundance of shops, and restaurants in the bustling town of Kirkcaldy which is just 2 miles or so from here.
