Kingsdown is a town in Wiltshire very close to Bath, with plenty to keep the most discerning visitor happy, perhaps a good place to start would be 14th Century Hazlebury Manor set in 186 acres of delightful grounds, or maybe Great Chalfield Manor built in the 15th Century with a brook, fish pond and even a well what more could be asked for. Perhaps to gaze upon masterpieces by Stubbs, Gainsborough, Turner and even Guardi, all this is possible at the Holbourne Museum. Westwood Manor has a modern topiary garden and captivating views over the Frome Valley, or if you dream of something a little more exotic the Museum of East Asian Art has exhibits of ceramics, jade and Bronze from Japan, China and South East Asia. Or the Bath Assembly Rooms with it’s stunning interior and impressive chandeliers is a delightful interlude, downstairs is home to the Museum of Costume. For the more energetic there is always a round of golf in one of the oldest golf clubs in Wiltshire, Kingsdown Golf Club has 18 holes set in beautiful parkland. Or if you enjoy messing about on the river then climb aboard a boat in the Victorian Boating Station.
