There has been a village here from mediaeval times, which at the time of the Domesday survey was known as Welintone, being well named for an abundance of springs.
Homes are well kept and produce can be bought from a number of gardens. There is no dearth of good gardeners!

It is an Oall-age-groupı village which for its small population of between six and seven hundred souls comprising old established families and relative newcomers, boasts a Parent & Toddler Group, a first-class Church of England Primary School, Sunday School, Parent-Teachers Association, Girl Guides, Womenıs Institute, Welton Players, Short Mat Bowls Club, Soccer Club and Skittles Club based of The White Horse which has a successful restaurant, Royal British Legion, progressive Parish Council, Village Hall Committee and Neighbourhood Watch.

St Martinıs Church is principally in the perpendicular style of the fifteenth century and is well kept by parishioners and its parochial church council.

On a ridge overlooking the town of Daventry and its country park to the south and pleasant farmland to the north, the village is on Northamptonshire ıs border with Warwickshire enjoying the best of both counties.
