B and Bs in Porlock
Over the years we stayed in many B&Bs and developed a preference for those where we could come and go as we pleased and not feel tied to set times for meals and where we could enjoy lazy or active days depending on our mood when we woke up. We have tried to model our guest accommodation at Amberton on these principles. To give you maximum flexibility we provide a continental style breakfast for you to eat in your room or on your private deck at the time that suits you best. Your breakfast menu options include freshly baked chocolate croissants, Danish pastry, croissants, rolls, salami and cheese, a variety of cereals including muesli, yoghurts, prunes, grapefruit segments, chilled orange juice, homemade bread to toast, butter and preserves. Your room is supplied with a selection of biscuits plus fresh milk and the usual tea and coffee as well as decaffeinated coffee, hot chocolate and earl grey, lemon, green and peppermint teas for you to enjoy at any time during your stay. Although there are many pubs and restaurants in the village, for days when you may prefer not to eat out you are welcome to bring back a pizza or ready meal to heat in your microwave. Alternatively we keep a limited range of microwave meals which you are welcome to purchase. The area around Porlock offers wonderful walking & cycling. In fact you could probably chose to leave your car in our drive for your entire stay and just walk or cycle from Amberton each day without having to repeat any route. We have a gate at the top of our garden leading directly to a bridle way while a 5-10 minute walk down the drive and along the lane will take you to the wooded areas of Hawkcombe and then up to the moor. As keen walkers ourselves and having two springer spaniels we know most of the local walks and will be happy to share our knowledge with you. When time allows we are happy to drive you to the start of your days walk. We offer cycle washing facilities and covered storage.
