At the Ashfield House Hotel you can be assured of first class hospitality and unparalleled service. All our guests are treated as House Guests rather than hotel residents from the moment they arrive. Ashfield House was built in the mid 1800s when the British empire was approaching its zenith. Queen Victoria reigned and Disraeli and Gladstone were the political heavyweights of the day. Gladstone was a guest at the hotel when Liberal MP for Wigan, John Lancaster, was the owner. IT is a fine example of building standards and interior craftsmanship of the Victorian era, which has seen many glorious days, as the home of wealthy merchant, a mill owner and a justice of the peace. The hotel is situated in its own landscaped grounds and enjoys splendid views of the Douglas valley and surrounding areas. Set in such a quiet location, Ashfield House makes an ideal setting for all occasions. Company dinners can be held in our restaurant, or in one of our private dining rooms which can accomodate anything from 2 to 130 guests.
