The Lutwidge Arms Hotel dates back to the 1850's and taking the name of the Lutwidge family of Holmrook Hall, (who includes Lewis Carroll of Alice in Wonderland fame), it combined the roles of working farm and Inn for may years. The Lutwidge Arms is set in the pretty riverside village of Holmrook on the A595 midway between Ulverston and Whitehaven. It is only 3 miles from the sea and nearby can be found the magnificent walkers paradise of Wasdale and Eskdale. It is in fact only nine miles from the Hotel to the highest point in England, Scafell Pike. There are so many enjoyable walks too many to list, but they range from easy going to very challenging, (which includes England's highest mountain). Please Note: Non-smoking, however, we have a designated covered smoking area with purpose built wall mounted cigarette receptacles. We operate a no-dogs policy in the rooms and for hygiene reasons and for the comfort of other guests, dogs are not allowed in the Bar/ Restaurant areas during meal times. Check-in time: 14:00 Check-out time: 10:00
