Bekonscot is the World’s oldest original Model Village. First opened in 1929 the village features 1.5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens, exquisitely detailed model buildings and historic model railway.
Stuck in a 1930s time warp, Bekonscot consists of 8 different villages and hamlets, each with their own individual character, residents and features. The Gauge 1 model railway winds its way around these different villages connecting farms, windmills and castles to coalmines, canals and fairgrounds.
With over 300 model buildings and 3000 inhabitants, wonderfully funny shop names and many animated models there is plenty to entertain and engage visitors of all ages. Enjoy a ride on the Bekonscot Light Railway, which winds its way around gardens and ponds at the edge of the village and learn more about the history of Bekonscot and life in the 1930s in our Education Centre.
Regular special events run throughout the year including visiting entertainers, hands on workshops and a Winter Wonderland. Check the website for full details.
Facilities include a Tea Room which offers an excellent selection of food and beverages, an Ice Cream Parlour, Gift Shop, playground, picnic areas and disabled facilities.
There is limited free parking, opposite our Warwick Road entrance.
