Restaurants in Islington
Fresh food, good service and pleasing design are virtually givens in any popular restaurant. What marks Bavo out is the spirit in which they are offered. Seyho Kurt puts heart and soul into this, his first restaurant, and foodies are responding. The majority of the affluent 40-something locals, celebrities and enthusiasts from across the capital and beyond (willing to travel for a top table, good on 'em) are there on recommendation. A modern, minimalist yet unmistakably warm interior of olive and aubergine walls, polished wood floors, unusual lanterns and a decorative tiled bar is as much a hit as the Turkish and Mediterranean food. Regulars insist on the grilled scallops, the seabass, or the charcoal kebab special, an aromatic feast, of lamb, chicken, quail and meatballs. An international wine list includes an organic Italian red. A tasty breakfast menu is served at weekends. Friendly for the kids with colouring activities provided. Wonderful, un-hurried service.
