ROMAN BATHS, BATH - Newly restored and back in all their magnificent glory

Hidden beneath the present city of Bath lie the stone remains of one of the finest religious spas of the ancient world.

Go back in time to where priests conducted animal sacrifices and public worship, where pilgrims cast their offerings into the Sacred Spring. See the remains of the beautifully carved temple and the fearsome Celtic god Sulis. Gaze upon the life-size gilded head of the goddess Minerva, once known only to the priests.

Marvel at the eternally rising springs, still gushing forth as they did in Roman times. Smell the mineral-rich steam; walk where Romans walked on ancient time-worn pavements around the Baths. Imagine the effect of the hot steam rooms and invigorating cold plunge pools that lie beside the great swimming bath, still replenished daily with natural hot water from deep underground.

Re-live Roman life in England two thousand years ago with the help of your own free personal audioguide.
