Dating back 150 years, Salford Museum tells the colourful history of the city and showcases the vibrant heritage and arts activity in its community.

Housed in the country's first municipal free library, the museum offers the elegant splendour of the Victorian Art collection, the lifelike Victorian street, research library and a varied events and hands-on activity programme throughout the year.

Surrounded by Peel Park, one of the favourite subjects for Salford's renowned painter L.S Lowry, the museum gives a lively interpretation of the origins and achievements of the city and its people.

Full programme of events and exhibitions is outlined on the museum's website.
