A rare collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, alpines and conifers in a lovely woodland setting. Lea Gardens have a unique collection of highly acclaimed rhododendrons, azaleas, kalmias and other plants of interest that have been introduced from the far corners of the world.

The gardens are sited on the remains of a medieval millstone quarry and cover an area of approximately 4 acres (1.6 ha) on a wooded hillside. The excellent rock gardens contain a huge variety of alpines with acers, dwarf conifers, heathers and spring bulbs.

Birdlife has been encouraged in quiet woodland walks below the main gardens. This area, planted with ornamental trees and specie rhododendrons, contains many assorted bird boxes donated by friends of Lea Gardens. The colours, scents and natural birdlife can be best appreciated on a quiet weekday.

Outside the published opening times, we are available by appointment for plant sales and advice on rhododendrons and azaleas. We pride ourselves on the personal service we are able to give out of season.

At Lea Gardens we specialise in home baking. Cakes made from traditional recipes may be enjoyed with tea, coffee and ices in pleasant surroundings. Light lunches are also available. Evening parties catered for by arrangement.

Our specialist nursery grows plants that reflect the garden's content and offers an extensive selection of rhododendrons, azaleas, kalmias and alpines. We strive to offer plants of all sizes at realistic prices.
