The Old Bell hotel is England's oldest having been built in 1220 to accommodate scholars visiting Malmesbury Abbey, which at that time was the second most important place of learning in England, after Canterbury cathedral. Now 792 years later we are still providing food, alcohol and rooms albeit of a much higher standard. The Bell is a hidden gem of The Cotswolds ideally located on the edge of the Cotswolds in Malmesbury a vibrant rural market town. Do visit our website to get a better feel for the levels of service and ambiance we provide.

There is much to explore in the area. Nearby are the mellow stone villages of Lacock (Hogwarts School in Harry Potter), Castle Combe and Bradford on Avon. The ancient stone circles and long barrows of Avebury are not far away and there is great shopping within thirty minutes at Bath and Swindon Designer Outlet. The famous Abbey House Gardens are adjacent to the hotel and Westonbirt Arboretum is close by.
