Hotels in St Ives
Cornwall is unique, both for its history and its scenery. It is a land of contrasts from its rugged coastline, precipitous cliffs and often angry seas, to lazy wooded creeks, small fishing harbour’s and sandy coves.
Originally a private house known in the Cornish language as Chy-an-Garrack, which translates into English as The House on the Rock, it was the home of Lady Ebury prior to becoming a hotel in 1948. Since then the Kilby family has made many changes: new bedrooms have been added and a small leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna and solarium.
It is now a secluded, vine-covered granite building standing in two acres of gardens high above Porthmeor Beach with fabulous views of St Ives Bay and the coastal landscape beyond. Of the 18 en-suite bedrooms, 2 have four poster beds, 2 with Half-tester Beds, some King Size & super King Double beds. The hotel is proud of its reputation for good culinary standards, recognized by the award of 3 Dinning Award by the RAC and of a rosette by the AA and to compliment the food, an extensive wine list. The hotel is dedicated to providing comfort in tranquil and beautiful surroundings accompanied by good food, good service and good company where the customers' interests are paramount. As a base for visiting the many attractions including the renowned Tate Gallery, St Ives and the Garrack have no equal.
