Explore the gaslit world of the Victorian judges, their servants, and felonious guests at this award winning historic house. From the stunningly restored judge's apartments to the dingy servants' quarters below, you can wander through their gaslit world, aided by an 'eavesdropping' audiotour of voices from the past. Hear their tale, from hardworking maid, to chairman of the magistrates (portrayed by actor Robert Hardy). Damp cells and vast courtroom echo to the 1860s trial of a local duck thief. Totally 'hands-on' with special kids activities during holidays. Awarded 'Britain's Local Museum of the Year', 'Interpret Britain' and voted into the top 10 museums in the country in the 'Best of British' awards 2004-05. Featured on British Television on many occasions
Registered for weddings.
