We are an Inn with an eclectic mix of a pub, a restaurant and a guest house in Dumfries, run by an equally eclectic family. For those of you not familiar with the "Doric" a Pleuch is a plough and a Pleuchie a ploughman. A Pleuchie could also mean an ordinary working person from the country. "Howff" is a meeting or gathering place. Robert Burns, who lived, worked, and is laid to rest in Dumfries, is one of Scotland's most famous ploughmen.

We offer comfortable accommodation in our tastefully decorated rooms (all ensuite) and each provided with television facilities and tea and coffee making facilities, and full Scottish breakfast in the morning to set you up for the day. For the weary traveller we have a Restuarant where you can relax and eat in comfort. And of course we have the pub where you can enjoy a tipple or sample our selection of beers including two real ales.
