Lima House like many of the grade 2 listed buildings in Aberaeron was built around 1850. Many of the houses in the town are named after ships that were built there and Lima House is no exception, although "The Lima" which was a brig, was actually built in Aberystwyth. It was captained by master mariner John Jones, from Llansantffraid near Llanon, four miles up the coast from Aberaeron.

Aberaeron is a beautiful harbour town mid way between Aberystwyth and Cardigan. The Harbour and formally laid out part of the town was the idea of the Rev Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne and Alban Square is named after him. Many of the houses in the town were built in the Edwardian style and thought to be designed by John Nash, as was LLANERCHAERON which is a National Trust Mansion with it's own walled gardens and farm not far from Aberaeron which is open to the public. Llanerchaeron is just one of the many attractions for visitors to Aberaeron. Numbered amongst others are THE HIVE on the quay side where you will be able to taste the honey ice cream which is made there. Aberaeron CRAFT CENTRE is open throughout the year and has craft workshops and and exhibitions in a range of converted traditional farm buildings near the church on the south side of the town.

You can take a trip by boat from New Quay or from Aberaeron Harbour to discover the wildlife of our heritage coast to catch a glimpse of the Bottle Nosed Dolphins and Gray Seals, the cliff nesting sites of Guillemots, Razorbills and Kittiwakes, ask about the trips at the tourist information office on the quay next to the Harbourmaster Hotel.Walking along the beach, when the tide is out you will be able to see turnstones and oystercatchers as well as seagulls of different types and our resident mallard population. Fishing for brown trout, Salmon and Sewin (the Welsh name for sea trout) is available between 1st April and 10th October by buying membership of the local angling association and then a daily or weekly ticket, or try fishing for Rainbow Trout, Carp, Tench, Roach and Bream at the fish pools in Oakford near Aberaeron.
