B and Bs in Mere
Chetcombe House is an elegant and cosy country house set in an acre of lovely gardens and located just a few minutes’ walking distance from the centre of the charming Wiltshire town of Mere. It is the home of Sandra Rose and Jerry Meyer who do everything possible to ensure guests have an enjoyable and relaxing stay, beginning with a warm and friendly welcome.
The town of Mere dates back to Saxon times and has been part of the Duchy of Cornwall for centuries. Richard Earl of Cornwall, brother of King Henry III, built a castle in the town in the first half of the 13th century – the castle no longer exists but the site now provides a splendid viewpoint across the beautiful surrounding countryside. Mere offers some lovely walks and is on the route of the Wiltshire cycle way. Much of the area around the town is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Facilities are available for walkers and cyclists such as wet weather clothes/boot drying facilities, lockable storage for cycles. Walking/cycling maps and guides are available to guests. In addition, wholesome and tasty packed lunches can also be provided.
