The Hollybush Inn is a historic 16th. Century grade II listed former Coaching Inn set at the gateway of the Peak Park. For most of its time, it was used as a working farm/pub until the late 1970's and for years was also an overnight holding prison for the inmates being transported from Derby to Manchester. Note the Bar Holes in the Stone Mullions]. The Old Derbyshire Portway [a 13th. Century Drovers route] passes past the pub, which is now part of the Limestone Way.
Over the last 15 years, the present owner has improved the Hollybush and the Barns, which have been converted to create cosy Bed & Breakfast and self-catering units which retain their original charm and features.
This free house makes a perfect stop-over for tourists, motor bikers , cyclists and walkers with good quality walks from the door and central to all the Derbyshire Dales towns, Matlock, Ashbourne, Bakewell and Wirksworth are all within a 15 minute drive.
