Port Eliot is an ancient hidden gem, set in a stunning fairy tale grounds which nestles beside a secret estuary in South East Cornwall. It has the rare distinction of being a Grade I Listed house, park and garden. This is due in part to the work of Sir John Soane who worked his magic on the house and Humphrey Repton who created the magnificent Park and garden.
Once a monastery, Port Eliot is the home of the Earl and Countess of St Germans and the Eliot family have lived at Port Eliot since the 16th century. The contents of the house reflect the accumulation by 30 generations of the ever prospering Eliot family. Amongst the collections are interesting pieces of museum quality furniture including an early Boule armoire.
Explore the treasures in the house. Gaze at masterpieces by Reynolds and Van Dyck. Decipher the Lenkiewicz Round Room riddle mural.
Visitors may then take the time to walk by the Lyner estuary and meander through the woodland garden. Picnic by the maze with the stunning views of the estuary and the viaduct or refresh yourselves with a visit to the Port Eliot Tea Room.

Months Open: 12th March to 16th June and 20th June to 7th July 2011 each day except Fridays. The house is open 2pm to 6pm (last admission at 5pm).
