Painswick is a village that contains many notable houses built in the prosperous seventeenth century and has lots of little streets to explore and quaint shops and galleries to discover. A short walk up to the Painswick Beacon offers views that stretch across the River Severn and Mendip Hills. On the outskirts of the town the well known Rococo Gardens can be found in a hidden 6 acre valley. In the Summer there are frequently staged Shakespeare Plays produced by a travelling theatre company. Throughout the summer there are many festivals to visit including Painswick's own traditional annual Victorian Festival. Pear Tree Cottage offers excellent value accommodation in the heart of the Cotswolds. We offer two guest rooms, a 'snug' and private roof top garden revealing beautiful views. This cottage is within easy walking distance of pubs and restaurants offering meals from simple to gourmet. The Cotswold Way is not just a long distance path for long distance walkers. A short walk anywhere along its length will lead you right into the heart of the country's most beautiful and varied landscapes. For further information about Painswick and the Cotswolds see the following websites: www.rococogarden.org.uk www.cotsoldwalks.com www.visitthecotswolds.org.uk www.thecotswoldgateway.co.uk Notice to guests: Typical of most villages there are no numbers and just house names and a few steps to negotiate from Vicarage Street on the approach to the cottage. It is certainly worth it for the views ! We would strongly advise guests to give a quick ring when arriving in Painswick - this will both guarantee a parking slot and any help with your luggage. Recent Guest review August 8th 2010 "Thank you for a lovely stay. We particularly enjoyed the comfy bed and delicious breakfasts. A very friendly welcome as well ! We will be back if ever this way in the future, Thank you" Serena and Lucinda Shelton
