26th of July - St Annes Day

26th of July is the 207th day of the year

St Annes Day:
Though there is no mention of Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, in the Bible, certain of the apocrypha – later additions to the information given in the four gospels – name her, and church tradition has it that though Mary was conceived in the usual biological way the child was born free of original sin – the Immaculate Conception. England has a particular claim on St Anne, as petitioned to do so Pope Urban VI in 1381 granted the country a Feast Day of St Anne, on July 26th, something not accorded to the rest of the Roman Catholic Church until 1584.
Anne is the patron saint of joiners, needle-workers and by extension housewives, the childless (as she had struggled to conceive according to her story), and moving house, among other activities.
