We wanted to lay on a lunch party at Penmaenuchaf Hall Hotel in Penmaenpool. The hotel owners were very obliging and accommodated a group of about 12 diners in their garden room restaurant which looks out onto a lake and woodlands. We asked for a set menu that would include a starter and choice a of three main dishes. A first course of Eggs Benedict was simple but divine. Then there was a chicken and tarragon casserole which was delicious and the youngsters enjoyed battered fish and chips. After lunch in the hotel restaurant, we went for a walk around the woods adjoining the grounds. There is a series of footpaths and walks that criss-cross the woodland which helped burn off the calories. The next day a few of us also walked the Mawddach Trail which can easily be reached from the hotel by strolling down down the drive into Penmaenpool.
