Mine was not a visit - all the appointments had gone at 9.03. This is a ridiculous system and it is not the first time that I have been unable to get one at this surgery. When will they understand that patients have to give up working time to go and cannot just take time off in this climate. What is wrong with making an appointment a few days before? This makes it certain for them and certain for the patient. I guess this will do my blood pressure the world of good.

I have to disagree with many of the comments here. My experience with this surgery has always been very good. Perhaps my view is skewed because I have lived in many London boroughs and seen many more shambolic practices than this one. I have only once seen a GP who I felt was inexperienced, but to be fair he did call in one of his colleagues to advise when he was unsure about my son's condition. The female doctors are, I believe, particularly good. Dr Patton and Dr Potts in particular are very personable and knowledgable. The reception staff are OK, sure they are not super-friendly or helpful, but rarely do you find that in a GP surgery (in my experience). The system I feel is quite fair. You ring up on the day by 9am to get a same-day appointment and you can book routine appointments up to 3 weeks in advance. I've never once had a problem seeing someone when I need to.

I first visited Park Road Surgery after about 2 years of living in the area. At the time I was refused permission to register, despite the fact that I was clearly very unwell because I had only one type of photographic ID with me or something equally trivial. Having now lived in Teddington for 4 years I have had the misfortune of visiting the surgery on 3 separate occasions and each has excelled in ineptitude. Without doubt some of the rudest, unhelpful receptionists I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I am not exaggerating, they really are quite awful.

I'm willing to forgive surly receptionists, poor waiting room facilities and an overbearing smell of TCP. However, I have never been seen on time, and not within a forgivable 10 minute window, even when early and only perhaps the second or third patient I've been forced to wait for at least 25 minutes more often 35-40. I dont understand how, such time based incompotance really is a marvel to observe. The simple logistics of being 45 minutes late when only open for half an hour is almost comical in its ineptitude.

Bad-tempered receptionists and is often difficult to get an appointment. "Planned appointments" are available but not advertised or encouraged! The doctors are variable. As another reviewer said, some are good and some are not. Dr Patton, in particular, is lovely.

I can't complain really, I usually ask for a consultation before noon and I get it for afternoon. If you visit Dr Bradley himself you'll notice he's and old-school type of doctor and tends to trivialize problems in the first instance, even if they're acute. In the two occasions I visited him, he never reacted firmly at the first bell, however it is difficult to say if that tendency lasts longer since the only time I had to go again with the same issue I was viewed by another doctor, who then took the expected tests. I'm not saying this is necessarily bad, since many times he'd be right to simply send back somebody home, but I wonder if this had happened to someone else, but with a negative outcome...

Dr Adeniji and Dr Bradley told me I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome, I was told the more I thought about it the worse it would get. It did get worse, I had Bowel cancer which spread to a number of lymph nodes. The emergency surgery I received was not so much for the cancer but the imminent risk of ruptured bowel on account of the tumour causing a near total blockage. Park Road surgery consider that they were not negligent. The matter has been logged by the PCT (Primary Care Trust), PCT and the GMC (General Medical Council).

In order to get an appointment you have to call before 9am and at 2pm. If a child is ill they do give you an appointment at short notice. regarding the GP's you have the very good ones, very experienced and some that are the opposite, it is better not to go to see a GP at all if you get the other ones. What I can say after several years of going there, the best GP's are the partners. My favourite is Dr. Patton, but you have other good ones. The receptionists can be good and can be very difficult and bad tempered. Sometimes I have felt as they were doing me a great favour by taling to me, and in fact my taxes pay for their salaries. I have to be fair, there are good receptionists as well as bad ones.

It is worse than this. I start to call at 08:00 or before. It is clear from the recorded message than the 'phones are never switched on before 08:30 / 08:35 then a different message is received putting you in a queue. I estimate that I dial up to 50 times continuously before I get through. You can only do this if you have an all inclusive telephone price plan. I'm expecting to be done for harassment for calling so many times! Appalling and the receptionists are not user friendly either.

i totally agree with the above review, and you need to be awake at 8.30am to call them! this can be hard if unwell but if you do not, you stand little or no chance of an appointment, and are told to go to casualty if you need to. VERY bad system!

This is not the first time that I was unable to make an appointment at the Park Road Surgery. The new appointment system requires patients to ring on the day they wish to see a doctor and if they are lucky they will be allocated a time sometime during that day. A ten minute appointment therefore means a patient has to put aside a whole day and even then might not be able to see a doctor. Park Road Surgery new appointment system clearly aims to improve the well-being of the surgery management and not its patients. It is simply unethical.
