Having visited Careys Manor for a spa break, which was absolutely great, I thought Le Blaireau would provide a similarly positive experience. Five of us visited for lunch. The food was in the main acceptable but not of the standard expected from a french restaurant which is not cheap. Service was mediocre, wine was carelessly plonked down on the table with no offer of a tasting and no pouring. My request for a green salad was met with 'We only have mixed salad'. How difficult is it to just provide the green bits? One of our party had the steak which was little more than a minute steak so the request for it to be 'medium' was ambitious and it came well done. The sauce tasted burnt. When I mentioned that to the waiter when we paid the bill the comment was 'Next time you should complain'! All in all, not a good experience and we will not be visiting again.
