Top place to take kids. You can feel self-righteous about sneaking some education into them, and as they are having fun at the same time you get brownie points too. There are still plenty of old style glass-case exhibits (the medical stuff definitely of the creepy variety) but far more hands-on things – and enough of them to mean little waiting before you or the kids get to twist that dial, pull that lever, stack those boxes, including the wonderful ‘Don’t touch’ piece, which teenagers touch repeatedly, shocked every time. There are even IMAX screens and virtual rides now (paid separately), one of which I closed my eyes through.
