A very pleasant setting, with good beers and wines. The food was good, though expensive for what it was. Most disappointing was the attitude of the staff, which ranged from unfriendly to rude. Sadly, not a place to go back to.

Having read the previous review on this site I was a little sceptical about going here for Lunch just before Christmas - however - I was not disappointed. Inside the pub it is a wash of old world fixtures and fittings with lovely open roaring fires - it certainly has plenty of atmosphere. Whilst the food is not a cheap pub lunch - it was outstanding and the service was also very good. I would be more than happy to recommend this as a venue to family and friends.

All looked very rosy when we arrived at this charming pub in a lovely Kent setting on a pleasant late summer day. Whilst clearly a pub with a food emphasis we were only looking for a light lunch and the cheese/ham ploughmans only option available in the bar and beer garden seemed to be just the ticket. What could go wrong with all appearing to be so perfect ? Well ....... Lunch food was advertised as being served from 12-2 p.m so I was extremely disappointed to be informed @ 1.25 p.m that as the kitchen was working " flat-out" no more food orders were going to be taken. Excuse me ! We only wanted a couple of ploughmans for God's sake ! The pub / restaurant did not seem that busy as we had no problem finding a place to sit out in the garden and enjoy (I must say )the very well kept Adnams beer. We left a little less thirsty but very very hungry and extremely disappointed. How difficult is it even with a kitchen "flat-out" to rustle up a couple of ploughmans lunches ? Is the Three Chimneys a pub or restaurant - make your mind up !! Needless to say we shall not return in a hurry. Badly done the Three Chimneys.

Glorious food equal to the best restaurants, obviously prepared by enthusiastic and experienced chefs, delightful front of house staff and amazing surroundings, so why wasn't this the wonderful dining experience that it could have been? Paper napkins! what on earth are paper napkins doing on a gourmet pub's table? Unmatching wine glasses, some with imperial measure stamps on the side, totally unecessary in a restaurant, and unwieldy menu boards that have to be carted from table to table. The management should realise that these things aren't "quaint and quirky", they spell "cheap". Someone is missing the point, if we want to eat, we can raid the fridge, dining out, however often we do it, should be an all round pleasant experience. And finally, early in the evening when the resaurant was relatively empty, conversation was a little stilted and self-concious because of the silence in the dining room, whilst I hate "elevator music", something unintrusive in the background would have been welcome. Once again, food to die for, served by a delightful front of house team, let down by what appears to be a jaded, uninterested restaurant manager.
