The Captain Cook Festival stage a number of annual events along the North Yorkshire Coast:in the beautiful and historic sea port of Whitby, the picturesque fishing village of Staithes and in Middlesbrough.

The Whitby Shanty Weekend is held May Bank Holiday Weekend and each October, as part of the Captain Cook Birthday celebrations we hold a Maritime Folk Day in Staithes.

In Whitby each May we invite a varied number of 'maritime -folk' artistes for four days of events. The festival was founded in 1996 by folk artiste Richard Grainger.
