Wrote lyrics for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (1968). In partnership with Andrew Lloyd Webber produced Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Cricket. Wrote lyrics to Chess (1984), the film Aladdin (1992), Beauty and the Beast (1994) and The Lion King (1994). Chairman of Foundation for Sport and the Arts. Knighted in 1994.
