Born 1928 - English ethologist and writer.
Educated at Birmingham and Oxford. Head of film unit and curator of mammals at Zoological Society of London. Completed important research on ethology of several animals. Best known work is The Naked Ape (1967). Later works include Manwatching: A Field Guide to Human Behaviour (1977) and The Soccer Tribe (1981). The Human Animal (1994) was made into television series.
