He had his first solo exhibition in 1960, and then exhibited alongside David Hockney in 1961 where he was identified with the emerging British Pop Art movement. He has designed several notable album sleeves, his most famous being the Beatles' album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. In 2002 Blake received a knighthood for his services to art.
