Born 1964 - English professional snooker player.

Was a keen bowls player before turning to snooker at the age of 15. Became Pontins Open Champion in 1982, Junior Pot Black champion in 1982 and 1983 before turning professional in 1983. Won the World Snooker Championship in 1991 and the UK Championship the same year. Spent three successive seasons ranked Number 2 in the world. Is a studio expert on snooker for the BBC and a team captain on Question of Sport. Awarded an MBE in 1996.
